LAST UPDATE: The dangerous person alert has been canceled according to the Calgary Police Service, the suspect was found dead. The Dangerous Person Alert that was sent out earlier today, Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, has now been canceled. The 38-year-old man police were searching for has been located. At approx. 3:40 p.m., we received tips from the public about the suspect’s vehicle being parked along a road in the Water Valley area. Upon arrival, police located the suspect near his vehicle deceased.
At this time, police are no longer looking for a suspect in the homicides that occurred on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024. Autopsies for both victims will take place on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025. No further information is available at this time. The Calgary Police Service would like to thank the public & the media for their assistance in coming forward with tips & information to further this investigation. Benedict Kaminski Calgary: A dangerous person alert has been issued for 38-year-old Benedict Kaminski, of Calgary, Alberta following the Sunday afternoon double deadly shooting in Kincora Grove N.W. Ania Kamzała was a mother of three and the girlfriend of the suspect. Benedict Kaminski shot and killed Ania and her father following a domestic incident at their home on the 100 block of Kincora Grove N.W. The father and daughter were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
The Calgary Police Service has issued a dangerous person alert for Calgary and nearby areas, including Mountain View County and its urban centers. An Alberta Emergency Alert was sent out on Dec. 30 at 12:13 p.m. for Division 6, which covers the region north of Calgary, including Mountain View County, and south past High River.
The alert warns of a dangerous man armed with a firearm in northwest Calgary and Bearspaw. The suspect, Benedict Kaminski, 38, is believed to be involved in a double homicide that occurred on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, in the Kincora and Tuscany neighborhoods. Kaminski is described as a six-foot-tall white male with brown and grey hair. He was last seen wearing a grey, red, and white shirt and driving a 2022 black Nissan Pathfinder with Alberta license plate CLN 5276.
On Sunday, Dec. 29, at around 9:30 p.m., the Calgary Homicide Unit responded to the 0 to 100 block of Kincora Grove N.W. following reports of a person in medical distress. Officers found a man in his 70s deceased at the scene. Later, at approximately 11:15 p.m., a second victim believed to be the man’s daughter, a woman in her 30s, was found deceased in the 300 block of Tuscany Ridge Heights N.W.
Calgary Shooting Victim Identified
One of the victims was identified as Ania Kamzała. The second victim was identified only as her father. Ania Kamzała was a beloved mother to three children Kazio, Kalinka, and Katsper. No arrests have been made yet. Autopsies for both victims are scheduled for Friday, Jan. 3, 2025. The public is advised not to open their doors to strangers, report any sightings to 911, and refrain from sharing details of police operations on social media.
Benedict Kaminski was a graduate of the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta. He was a resident of Calgary, Alberta.
