Patricia Leonard Waldwick NJ Obituary: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter and sister, Patricia Michelle Leonard, who tragically left us on December 19, 2024. Patty brought so much light into our lives, and her loving spirit and contagious laughter will forever be cherished.
Patty is deeply mourned and profoundly missed by her mother, Nina Kelly-Leonard; her father, Michael Leonard; her siblings, William Kelly III and his wife Leah Kelly, Connie Kelly, Catherine Kelly, Myles Leonard, and James Leonard; her grandmother, Patricia Leonard; her cousin Alexa Leonard; her nephew Jackson Cole Napolitano; and her numerous other cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Sylvester Leonard, Samuel Tarantino, and Concetta Tarantino, as well as her Uncle Bobby Leonard. A devoted animal lover, Patty was also a proud pet mom to her two Pomeranians, Mochi and Moo.
Born on September 23, 2003, Patty was adored by her family and community. She attended Waldwick High School before pursuing her dreams in Florida, where she studied Criminal Law to make a positive impact in the world.
Despite living away from home, Patty prioritized staying connected with her family, brightening their days with daily FaceTime calls. Her wisdom and maturity were evident from a young age—she was reading books and tying her shoes by age three. Known for her vibrant personality, Patty filled every room with joy. She loved music and often surprised loved ones by bursting into song. Her natural humor, boundless energy, and warm heart endeared her to all who knew her. Unapologetically herself, she was a steadfast friend and family member, always ready to share a laugh or lend a hand.
To celebrate Patty’s life, please join us for a wake service at Vander Plaat Funeral Home on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A Funeral Mass will follow on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, 340 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ 07423, with interment at St. Luke’s Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, we encourage donations to the National Down Syndrome Society in Patty’s honor. Though Patty’s life was cut far too short, her warmth and light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who love her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, always.
